For its 75th anniversary, Ruger has been unveiling several special edition firearms to commemorate the historic occasion. Now joining the 75th anniversary special edition line up is one of Sturm, Ruger & Company’s most iconic sporting rifles: the single shot Ruger No. 1 rifle. For this run, only 75 rifles will be produced, all with a special serial number range to denote their status.
Originally introduced in 1967, the Ruger No.1 rifle was designed directly by Bill Ruger, the company’s founder. The single shot Ruger No.1 uses a hammerless falling block action created to be both strong and elegant. As a single shot rifle, Sturm, Ruger & Company has sold the No.1 in a wide array of classic rifle cartridges. The Ruger 75th Anniversary Special Edition rifle features gold and silver accents along with engraving and scrollwork, and most importantly: a 75th anniversary emblem. Its stock is made from high grade American walnut to complement this enhanced receiver. This special edition series of Ruger No.1 rifles has a 22-inch barrel and is chambered in the venerable .270 Winchester, a classic North American big game hunting cartridges that has been in use since the mid-1920s.
Ruger No.1 75th Anniversary Edition Features:
- Limited edition 75th anniversary model features an “R75” serial number prefix and each rifle is adorned with scrollwork engraving accentuated by a gold inlayed Ruger Eagle and 75th Anniversary emblem. Only 75 of these rifles will be built and will have a special “1 of 75” engraved on the bottom of the receiver.
- Sliding tang safety provides instant security, visibility and accessibility.
- Falling-block breech mechanism with artillery-style breechblock and under-lever is ideally suited for today’s powerful cartridges.
- Robust, sturdy, sculptured receiver forms a rigid support for barrel, stock and sliding breech block.
- Ejector mechanism provides maximum leverage at the point where the ejector engages the cartridge case and can be adjusted to provide extraction only.
- Integral scope mounts, machined directly on the solid steel quarter rib, provide a stable mounting surface for included scope rings.
- Cold hammer-forged barrel results in ultra-precise rifling that provides exceptional accuracy and longevity.
- Also includes a sporting style butt pad and sling swivel studs.
