Humans have been sharing hunting stories since they first hurled a spear or sent a herd of buffalo careening down a cliff. After all, the earliest-known figurative artwork depicts a hunt. That was 44,000 years ago. Now, instead of scrawling artistic renderings onto a cave wall, we upload photos to the internet. Same brag, different medium.
You’ve seen us in the field plenty—now we want to see your hunting stories. As well as fishing, foraging, or cooking-over-a-fire tales. That’s why we’re launching the first-ever MeatEater Photo Contest. We want to see how you enjoy the outdoors. Upload your favorite photo in the comment section below for a chance to win a $50 or $500 gift card to the MeatEater Store.
To enter the contest, all you have to do is drop a photo in the comment section below. You can also include a brief story if you’d like to add some background.
If you don’t already have one, you will need to make an account on the site to comment and upload photos. It will take us a little while to approve your photo, so expect that it won’t immediately display—no need to upload multiple copies of the same photo. Also, please only upload one photo per day.
The contest will run from Monday, November 25, to Monday, December 2. You can upload photos any time during that week to be considered for a prize.
We’ll be picking a random-draw Daily Winner who will receive a $50 gift card to the MeatEater Store. The Crew Pick Winner and Overall Winner (People’s Choice) will each receive a $500 gift card. The Overall Winner will be determined by whose photo has the most votes by the end of the week. To vote for your favorite images, just give the thumbs-up icon on the comment a click.
