Guncrafter Industries is known for its one-of-a-kind customized 1911 builds. Guncrafter’s specialized .50 caliber model, the .50 GI, is one of the company’s more memorable models. For 2025, Guncrafter Industries is announcing the new release of the Polara 1911 pistol, a custom-style single-stack single-action full-size steel-framed 1911 that is available in 9mm, .45 ACP, .38 Super and 9x23mm.
The Polara 1911 is available with stainless steel or Melonited steel frames and slides along with contrasting TiN or DLC barrels and peripherals. Besides materials, customers also have the choice of purchasing a Government or Commander size 1911 frame. Guncrafter Industries also includes their unique Shredder grips which, despite their name, were created to provide excellent grip traction while still being gentle on the shooter’s palms. Shredder grips are made from a tough resin material that is infused with metal strands of copper, aluminum and other materials in order to provide a nearly iridescent, special glow to your gun.
Although the classic barrel and bushing combination has been in used in John Moses Browning’s legendary design since its inception over a century ago, Guncrafter Industries is taking a very modern approach by incorporating a thicker bull-barrel design, not unlike what is found in many contemporary double-stack 1911 designs. These bull barrels are cleanly cut to fit flush with the muzzle and feature spiral machining cuts throughout their length. In the same vein, the Polara 1911’s slide features a more modern and angular tri-top profile as opposed to the classic M1911 rounded style slide. All of its front and rear slide serrations are also directionally cut to provide extra grip when racking.
Company owner Alex Zimmermann states “With modern upgrades and features, the 1911 is John Moses Browning’s gift that keeps giving, fit for another century of service”.
