Mossberg is following up the success of the 590 Shockwave pump action firearm with the new 990 Aftershock, a 12-gauge semi-automatic firearm that can use 2.75-inch or 3-inch shells. This full-featured and easy to maneuver platform is available with either 14.75-inch or 18.5-inch barrel options or a 14.75-inch version equipped with a Crimson Trace Lasersaddle sight.

Inside the 990 Aftershock is a durable gas-operating system that contained within the fore end. The internal parts like the gas piston, magazine tube, hammer and sear have a nickel-boron coating and a special finish for enhanced corrosion resistance and smooth cycling. The 990 also has an enlarged and beveled loading port for easy loading, an elongated, pinch-free elevator and an anodized, bright orange follower. The top-mounted safety can easily be operated by a left or right-handed shooter and features a bright red indicator. Other features include a knurled charging handle, oversized, paddle-style bolt release and a strapped fore end for a firm hold and to keep hands clear of the muzzle. Underneath the barrel is a 5-shot magazine with M-Lok slots on the sides and bottom so you can mount a tactical light or other accessory.

The black synthetic grip of the Aftershock is shaped for an ergonomic, secure grip and features a rubberized palm pad to minimize felt recoil. A QD sling cup is incorporated on the rear of the grip if you chose to add a sling. The black synthetic fore end has an attached embossed strap and wears Mossberg’s signature texturing for a more positive hold.

The 990 has matte blue metal finish and is available in either 14.75 or 18.5-inch cylinder bore barrels equipped with a LPA front fiber optic sight. The firearm has a five-shell magazine when using 2.75-inch shotshells, and the 14.75-inch version is also available with a Crimson Trace Lasersaddle which attaches easily to the receiver. The laser is adjustable for windage and elevation, and the fixture provides multiple touchpad activation points.

MSRP for the 990 Aftershock varies from $1,120 to $1,302. Visit mossberg.com for more information on this new firearm or other products from Mossberg.
