First Look: New Redding Reloading Dies

Redding Reloading has just launched a significant expansion of its premium reloading die sets to cover an additional 70 calibers. Each of these sets include Redding’s high-end carbide expanding dies and micrometer-adjustable seating dies.

The handloading process involves pushing cleaned and empty brass casings through dies locked into presses in order to facilitate the addition of a new primer, adding a specific powder charge and seating a new bullet. To do so, dies help casings either expand or contract so that the handloader can add components at every step. Redding Reloading’s new die sets include carbide expander buttons which makes inside neck sizing smoother and easier, without lubrication. The button also free floats on the decapping rod, allowing for self-centering in the case neck and hence improved overall concentricity. Neck sizing is critical to the next step in the handloading process, which is bullet seating. Placing or seating the bullet is quite straightforward, but the depth at which a bullet is seated has the potential to make or break a given handloaded cartridge’s accuracy in relation to the rifle it is being loaded for. This is where Redding Reloading’s micrometer seating dies come in.

The micrometer-equipped standard seating stem (also sold separately with VLD seating stem) allows for precise bullet seating depth to 1/.001 inch. Redding also makes these available with metric scale micrometers on certain models. Redding’s Micrometer seating dies make it easier than ever before to fine-tune your favorite loads and take the guesswork out of loading multiple bullet types with the same seating die. The end result is a tool that lends itself to more precise and accurate shooting.
