First Look: Walther PDP Pro-E Pistols

by Braxton Taylor

Walther Arms has just announced a new variant of its flagship Walther PDP (Performance Duty Pistol) series, the Walther PDP Pro-E models. Walther’s goal in offering the new PDP Pro-E variant is to bridge the gap between the standard Walther PDP base models and the more “dressed up” PDP Pro SD guns, which all include the premium Dynamic Performance Trigger, magazine wells and threaded barrels. The new Walther PDP Pro-E models keep the larger magazine well but include a standard, non-threaded barrel. They also include the new Walther E-DPT, a polymer version of the Dynamic Performance Trigger which retains the bladed safety and flat trigger shoe. Lastly, the new Walther Pro-E models ship with three magazines that use polymer extended base pads compatible with the larger magazine wells). As with virtually every other Walther PDP variant regardless of “trim” level, the slides on the new PDP Pro-E series are fully optics-ready. Walther is offering two versions of the new PDP Pro-E, one with a 4-inch slide and a compact frame and another with a full-size frame and 4.5-inch slide. The magazines hold 18 and 20 rounds of 9mm ammo with the Pro-E extended polymer base pads installed.

“With the PDP Pro-E, we’ve successfully bridged the gap in performance between our standard PDP and the high-performance PDP Pro SD. It’s a testament to our unwavering commitment to innovation and providing the ultimate shooting experience,” said Jens Krogh, Walther’s VP of marketing and product development. “This firearm represents a new era of precision, customization, and performance that brings enthusiasts and professionals closer to the pinnacle of handgun technology. At Walther, we’re dedicated to closing the performance divide, and the Pro-E is a shining example of this mission.”
