Are you looking for an EMP-proof watch or one that may be considered EMP-resistant?
A wristwatch packed with electronics is likelier to fail from an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) than a traditional, non-electronic watch. For instance, with all its features, my Apple watch might not survive an EMP. I, too, use an Apple watch and appreciate its many features. However, I also have other watches without electronic components that I know will survive an EMP.
Best EMP Proof Watch For SHTF Preparedness
A good mechanical wristwatch will keep on ticking. While a basic watch with a battery may be EMP-resistant due to a lack of sophisticated electronics, you might consider the ultimate EMP-proof watch, one without a battery or any electronics whatsoever.
While many great SHTF watches have additional features, I am focusing on EMP proof. Besides, who says you can’t have more than one, right?

Will an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) affect a wrist watch? Will your watch still work?
While no one knows for sure (thankfully, it hasn’t happened yet!), a kinetic mechanical winding (or automatic self-winding) wristwatch will certainly work after an EMP.
There is also the opinion that a modern solar-powered watch and/or one with digital features ‘may’ still work afterward. Why? Given their small size, no ‘antenna’ effect, metal enclosure (or partial), and EMP variables, the watch may continue functioning. But we don’t know for sure.
Mechanical watch versus Automatic watch versus Solar powered watch…
Mechanical Watch
Likely, a mechanical watch will not be affected by an EMP. No electronics, No problem… In a mechanical watch, gears are turned by a spiral spring. Energy is stored in this mainspring by turning (winding) a knob on the side. It’s a simple, elegant design that ensures your watch keeps ticking. The trick is remembering to keep it wound up!

Automatic Watch
A ‘kinetic’ self-winding wristwatch is also a mechanical watch. However, the wearer’s natural motion provides energy for running the watch. An oscillating weight turns on a pivot (upon movement) and keeps the mainspring wound. As long as you wear it regularly, it will always stay wound up.
There are no electronics inside.
Solar Powered Watch
A solar panel absorbs sunlight (and artificial light) and converts it into electrical energy to power the watch. A rechargeable cell (battery) stores energy to power itself during the night or when covered by a wearer’s clothing (e.g., sleeve).
There are some electronics inside.
Best SHTF Watch That’s EMP Proof
Popular brands include Seiko. They appear to have the most choices for mechanical watches.
(UPDATE)
Regarding an EMP-proof watch, I am removing the solar-powered watch from consideration. Although previously mentioned (due to its minimal electronics), many variables make it uncertain whether it will survive an EMP. So, I am restricting my personal recommendations to a mechanical wind-up or an automatic mechanical watch for EMP proof.
I like a mechanical (wind-up) and/or automatic wind.
Although there are many to choose from, I will present one watch as an example of what you might consider for EMP proof.
Seiko EMP proof watch
Okay, they don’t market it as EMP-proof, but I consider it to be.
This watch has zero electronics and will hold about 40 hours of stored kinetic energy. It’s made of stainless steel (bezel), has luminescent hands, a 21-jewel movement, an analog day-date, a case diameter of 37 millimeters, and more.
This is an automatic mechanical watch. Automatic watches do not operate on batteries; instead, they are powered automatically by the movement of the wearer’s arm. To maintain accuracy, wear the watch for 8 hours or more per day or manually wind the main spring by turning the crown.

About Seiko
Seiko produced the first automatic quartz watch, which combined the self-energizing attributes of an automatic watch with ‘quartz accuracy.’ The watch is entirely powered by its movement in everyday wear. Today, these watches are under the name Seiko Kinetic.
