New Army, Navy Bonus Structures Could Net Military Personnel Up to $210,000

The Army and the Navy have announced new bonus structures that could net some officers up to $210,000 over the next six years.The Army bonus, which the service announced on July 26, allows warrant officers with 12 to 14 years of active federal service to qualify for a $75,600 bonus for a three-year agreement. Those with more than 18 years of service can qualify for $120,000 for a four-year agreement, $162,300 for a five-year agreement, or $209,880 over six years.

Meanwhile, naval aviators will be eligible to earn $37,000 over a two-year obligation or $129,000 over a three-year obligation under certain circumstances, according to a July 26 naval administrative message. They also may qualify for a $10,000 annual Sea Duty Incentive, but those who opt for the three-year contract would be capped at $7,000 in additional annual sea duty pay, resulting in a $150,000 total.

“The AC Aviation Command Retention Bonus (ACRB) program incentivizes highly talented, hardworking Naval Aviators and Naval Flight Officers (NFO) screened for aviation command to choose to remain on Active Duty,” the administrative message said. “Our return on investment is the retention for continued Naval Service of our aviation warfighters, with their invaluable, irreplaceable skillsets and leadership.”

The deadline to apply for the new Navy bonus scheme is Aug. 31, while the Army bonus scheme expires on Sept. 30.

The bonuses come as President Donald Trump has made defense a big priority under his second administration.

Under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) still being drafted in Congress, the U.S. military aims to increase total active-duty armed forces to over 1.3 million personnel—the highest target since 2023—with the Army growing to 454,000 soldiers, and the Navy expanding to 334,600 sailors.

Retaining staff already in the services will prove key to meeting these targets.

Other Military Bonuses Offered

Other branches of the military have also considered and/or implemented bonus structures aimed to boost enlistment and retention.The U.S. Space Force isoffering new recruitsa $25,000 signing bonus, but only on the condition that they agree to serve at least eight years’ active duty.

Incoming enlisted guardians, regardless of their chosen military occupation specialty, will be eligible for the bonus through Nov. 30, according to a new pilot program announced by the force in July.

The pilot program will be limited to 100 recruits, and the $25,000 will be disbursed after recruits complete their technical training.

The Marine Corps released an administrative message on Nov. 3, 2025, that outlined enlistment bonuses for Fiscal Year 2026. The programs included bonuses for active-duty and reserve recruits, tied to specific skills or service commitments like quick ship military jobs.
