Texas based Lone Star Armory has just released the new GWOTX4 5.56 NATO AR-15 pattern carbine. Externally, these new carbines are modeled after the classic US Military M-4 service rifle, with details like a quad-rail, fixed front sight base and classically styled AR-15 / M-4 polymer furniture. The 16-inch long barrels on each rifle also have the classic government profile with the thinner section underneath the handguards and the contouring to accommodate an M203 ahead of the front sight base. Keen observers will also notice the GWOTX4 includes a more desirable CAR-15 style stock as opposed to the standard M-4 pattern unit.
A big motivation in developing the GWOTX4 is to pay homage to the military firearms carried by many American veterans during the hey-day of the GWOT (Global War On Terror) with campaigns both in Afghanistan and Iraq. Unlike government carbines however, the Lone Star Armory GWOTX4 is built to higher standards than just “mil spec.” Each Lone Star Armory GWOTX4 is built with LSA’s forged upper and lower receiver sets. This small company guarantees each GWOTX4 to print 1 MOA (or better) groups when shooting match-grade 5.56 NATO ammunition while still maintaining duty grade or hard use reliability.
